Narrow space between the downtube and wheel

Some bikes, such as time trial bikes, have a narrow spacing between the downtube and the tyre. This can make it difficult for the rack arms to fit between. If your bike has less than 15mm or 1/2” gap it may be better suited to our ProFlex range.

Does your bike have fixed fenders or mudguards attached to the front forks?

If your bike has fenders or mudguards, you will still need to match the tyre and wheel size - see step 1 above. However, your bike will be suited to our ProFlex range which is fender compatible.

MTB Mudguards - Please note many mountain bikes with small fenders or mudguards will not require the ProFlex range - being much smaller they will not interfere with the function of our Classic Rack or Mountain Bike Rack.

You will also need to confirm the space between your fender stays and tyre is suitable - see step 4 below.

Tyre size

Wheel size is the diameter of your wheel from edge to edge (A). Tyre width is the width of the tire on the wheel (B). It’s the combination of these two numbers that determine which type of bike rack to choose.

The tyre width will determine which size rack to purchase. If you have confirmed that your bike does not have fenders/mudguards or narrow spacing between the tyre and the downtube, read below to help choose a size!

Tyres up to 2.1": The Classic Rack will be the best fit.

Tyres 2.1" - 2.8": The MTB Rack will be the best fit.

Tyres 2.8" - 5": The Fat Rack will be the best fit.

Fender Stays With Tight Tolerance

Some bikes with fenders/mudguards which fit tightly to the tyre will not fit our racks.

The ProFlex works by sliding between the fender/mudguard and tyre when rolling the bike onto the rack. Before you purchase, take a moment to make sure your bike will fit safely and securely.

If the stays on your bike are very close to the tyre or rigid with no flexibility, there may not be room to fit the rack arms in between.

We recommend a minimum 20mm or 3/4 inch clearance between the tyre and stays to enable the bike rack to flex and fit between.
